Casino Royale

The movie:
What a sprawling mess!  You can tell things went horribly wrong in the making of this movie, but it's a hoot!  Fun, fun, fun...they really don't make them like this anymore.  Or ever, really.  And there's a hip Burt Bacharach soundtrack. (Click here to hear the theme from the movie, with vocals by Peter Sellers.  This version is not available on the soundtrack album, or anywhere else.)  One thing puzzles me: what's the connection between Casino Royale and What's New, Pussycat?  There are so many similarities in cast, dialog, and visual style between these two movies that they are almost like a matched pair.  Maybe it's my imagination.

The women:
Casino Royale is packed with women I love, from Deborah Kerr (normally classy, but here broadly comedic) to Barbara Bouchet (indescribably delicious).  The most alluring performance is by a young lady I didn't recognize.  I looked up the movie in IMDB, and it turns out it was Jacqueline Bisset.  I was never much of a Jackie B fan, but she's incredible in this movie.

Why I won't see the new Casino Royale:
Because I hate James Bond.
