Tamara Drewe

Great movie! A melodrama/farce about love, and how love ennobles a (very) few of us, and makes most of us stark raving stupid.  Based on a comic book (sorry, "graphic novel"), which is in turn based on Thomas Hardy's Far from the Madding Crowd.

The titular character (she's not really the star, as it's sort of an ensemble piece), is played by Gemma Arterton, who I had never seen before.  I just want to say that Ms. Arterton is ridiculously, wastefully, annoyingly beautiful.  She's ten times more beautiful than any woman needs to be.  It doesn't make sense, does it?  Beauty should be spread around a bit more.

Whatever. At least I got to use the word "titular."
